Which Star Sign Are You Born In?

You definitely know the star signs, sometime called Sun signs, Astrological signs or Birth signs. This “signs” are sorted in to Zodiac and in the past every astronomer ha to know their order. Roman poet Ausonius wrote their names to Latin verse: Sunt aries, taurus, gemini, cancer, leo, virgo, libraque, scorpius, arcitenens, caper, amphora, pisces. This was done to ease memorization in 4-th century a.d.. But their names are older. Zodiac was introduced in ancient Egypt.

The names of Zodiac signs are names of constellations close to Ecliptic. (Ecliptic is a virtual Sun trajectory in the sky.) We do not know how old-time astronomers could have determined this trajectory with such precision because Sun is hidden when stars are visible. Nevertheless this knowledge was a question of life or death for the old-time astronomers. There is a simple reason for it. Exact determination of Ecliptic is fundamental for forecast of the eclipse. And eclipse was important for kings and priests, because it is impossible haven’t such important phenomenon without control.

  

 

Sun goes round the Ecliptic per 365 days approximately. This is reason, why this circle is divided in to 360 degrees. The Ecliptic had been divided in to 12 equal parts, each 30 degrees wide, it was called mounts. These 12 parts are equal to 12 star constellations. Their names start with Taurus, because of crossing between Ecliptic and Celestial (Universe) Equator was in the Taurus constellation around the year 0 (± 1000 years :). But that point is moving in the time. This point (Vernal Point) rounds the Ecliptic per 26 000 years. Nowadays that point is in the Pisces constellation.

It is a real mess, because nowadays astrology insists on ancient signs. For example, the sign Pisces (end of Zodiac) is from 2/3 in the Aquarius constellation and Taurus sign (begin of Zodiac) is almost all in the Pisces constellation nowadays. We can see that astrologists have a hard work. Moreover astronomers did it for astrologists more difficult. Astronomers divided the sky by constellation regions and than we have 13 constellations in Ecliptic. The Ophiuchus (Serpent) constellation was squeezed into Scorpius and Sagitarius. But, try to buy Sarpet pendant in the jewellery!
